The field consisted of 26 teams that had qualified by placing highly in their respective state championships or in qualifying NAQT events held across the country during the preceding year.
On Saturday teams played a 10-game schedule determined by Swiss pairing (teams with similar records play each other). The full results are available. The top 6 teams by record (with ties broken by head-to-head play) advanced to the playoffs on Sunday. The playoffs featured a round robin among the qualifying teams which was won in convincing fashion by Detroit Catholic (5-0) with Walton second (4-1). Detroit Catholic then defeated Walton in two straight games (485-225, 410-210) to take the championship.
The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs played consolation rounds on Sunday.
All star awards were given to the eight highest scoring individuals during the 10 preliminary rounds of the tournament. The complete individual results are available.
