ICT Standby Status

Teams that do not qualify for the Intercollegiate Championship Tournament (ICT) in a given year are given the chance to attend the ICT on standby status.

Teams on standby status agree to attend the NAQT ICT with at least three eligible players. In the event of a last-minute cancellation, the standby team will replace it in the competition field (with no registration fee charged).

A player that is Division II-eligible does not lose his eligibility merely by attending the ICT on a standby basis. However, actual participation in the ICT will cause him/her to lose Division II-eligibility.

If there are no last-minute cancellations, the members of the standby team will be expected to serve as moderators and scorekeepers during the event. In exchange, the team's school will receive free copies of the questions used at the tournament and free copies of the next year's Intramural questions (for which the normal price is $225.00). Please note that standby team members do not qualify for "moderator discounts" (regardless of whether they end up playing) nor will their housing, travel, or other expenses be covered by NAQT.

Teams interested in being placed on the first-come, first-serve standby list for Division I or Division II should contact NAQT via e-mail at ict@naqt.com. Standby teams will be accepted 24 hours after the completion of the last Sectional Championship Tournament (SCT).
