Notes on the Sample Scoresheet

The sample scoresheet has a few noteworthy features:

  1. Some tossups went unanswered (4, 7, 10, 14, 19, and 23). These have been (properly) marked by a diagonal line through the tossup number.

  2. Some of the tossups in Phases 2 and 4 earned power points. Those have a "15" (instead of a "10") written below the player column.

  3. More than 20 tossups were read in Phases 1 and 2; a "21" has been written in the central column.

  4. The Slytherin team got its entire lightning round correct and therefore earned a 20-point bonus. This is included with its base 100 points and "120" is written in its column. Of necessity, Gryffindor's "bounceback" line is therefore 0.

  5. The central column has been filled in with the numbers of the tossups ("22," "23," etc.) heard during Phase 4.

  6. Slytherin made a substitution after the lightning round; Blaise Zabini came in for Vincent Crabbe. Note that Blaise is put in a new column. In addition, both Blaise and Vincent will have heard different numbers of tossups from the other players.

  7. The row for "Player Tossups Heard" contains the number of tossups (from Phases 1, 2, and 4) for which each of the players was in the game.

  8. The rows for "Number of 15s" and "Number of 10s" contain the number of those tossups scored, not the points scored on them.

  9. The row for "Total player points" does contain the total number of player tossups points.

  10. The sum of Gryffindor's tossups and bonus subtotals does not equal its cumulative score. This means that an arithmetic or procedural error has been made. Can you find it?
