2007 Siouxper Bowl Results

The fourth Siouxper Bowl high school quiz bowl tournament was held on November 10, 2007 at the University of Sioux Falls under the direction of the university's Natural Science Area, its Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Larry Ort, and Professor of Mathematics Chad Birger. The tournament was a qualifier for the 2008 NAQT High School National Championship.

Nineteen teams from thirteen schools in two states (South Dakota and Iowa) attended. The teams played six preliminary games, after which the top sixteen advanced to single elimination playoffs for the championship. The six preliminary games were randomly determined for each school with some attempt made to minimize matches between teams from the same school.

The preliminary games can be found in NAQT's statistics database.

Teams with identical records were ordered by points-scored-per-tossup-heard (PPTH).

The top 16 teams advanced to the playoffs.

The single-elimination playoff bracket can be downloaded in PDF format. The winner of each game is indicated by boldface.

In the championship game, the Greater Sioux Falls Home School Association (#1) beat Brookings B 260-45. In the consolation game for third place, Brookings A defeated Brandon Valley A 175-100.

St. Mary's, the fourth-place finisher overall, was also the Top Small School in attendance (by NAQT's definition).

By virtue of finishing in the top 15% of the field, the Greater Sioux Falls Home School Association, Brookings A, and Brookings B have qualified for the national championship. St. Mary's, the Top Small School, also qualified.

The tournament also recognized individual performances; the top eight scorers by tossup-points-scored-per-tossup-heard (PPTH) during the preliminary games were:
