College Invitational Tournaments
NAQT provides Collegiate Novice Series questions for use at collegiate tournaments each year.
Institutions interested in hosting collegiate events may submit a tournament proposal online or contact us at email@example.com to reserve a set. The cost is an $85 base fee plus $16 per team in attendance, with a $50 rebate available for sending appropriate results after the tournament.
Hosts are encouraged to give printed copies of the question set to participating schools. Note that no more than one printed copy may be distributed to each school in attendance.
We maintain an extensive contact list for established programs and potential players at schools without formal teams and are happy to share the list with schools running tournaments to help them recruit the largest possible field and get new people and schools involved with quiz bowl.
NAQT does not have a formal geographic exclusivity policy at the college level (as it does at the high school level), but will work with interested schools to create as many tournaments as possible with its sets.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the host school to prominently announce the name of the packet set that it is using for its tournament (e.g., “Collegiate Novice Series #150C”) so that players can make sure that they aren’t planning on attending two events using the same questions. Hosts should make it clear to potential attendees that they should check the schedule and list of sets used at past tournaments to verify this. Please read the full description of the various parties’ responsibilities in maintaining question security. Our online registration system, offered free to hosts, makes this easier.
If you have any questions about the suitability of NAQT questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
