Administrative Assistant Job Posting

NAQT is looking for an administrative assistant to provide support for the operations of local tournaments run by our customers, practice material orders, and our national championships. This position has the potential to grow to include additional responsibilities.
Duties
- Send preparation and wrap-up emails to local tournament hosts
- Send question sets to tournament hosts
- Assist with processing orders for practice materials
- Provide customer support for Locklizard, the software used to distribute and access practice materials
- Send invitations to national championships
- Order supplies and printed materials for national championships
- Miscellaneous data entry tasks
Desired Skills
- Customer service experience
- Understanding of the basics of quiz bowl (roughly how the game works, how the circuit is structured, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.), word processing, spreadsheets, Slack, and Zoom
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Ability to describe technical issues and requests
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize competing tasks
The candidate should not be a quiz bowl player, coach, or parent of a player in 2022–2023. It is preferred if the candidate has retired from such roles for the long term.
Hours, Compensation, and Classification
This position requires approximately 10–20 hours per week, varying during the quiz bowl season and off-season. The higher amount is concentrated in January through May.
The assistant will need to work mainly during business hours in U.S. Central time, though the specific hours are generally up to them.
The assistant will be paid $20.90 per hour. Currently, this position is classified as an independent contractor (Form 1099). Depending on the candidate and the evolution of the role, it may be reclassified (and compensation adjusted accordingly).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. This work can be performed from anywhere in the United States other than California.
