Reporting Misconduct at NAQT Events

NAQT has partnered with the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence and the Academic Competition Federation on a project spearheaded by PACE member (and NAQT writer) Alex Damisch to make reporting experiences with misconduct at tournaments less daunting. While we all sincerely hope that no one experiences behavior that makes them feel harassed or unwelcome at any tournament, we know that it can, and does, happen. These organizations are committed to making sure everyone feels safe, included, and respected during competitions. Since we can’t act on what we don’t know, we rely on prompt reports from our participants and staff about any inappropriate behavior.

You can use this Google Form to report any issue that has made you feel unsafe, excluded, or disrespected at a quiz bowl tournament. (You can also use the form to report behavior that is targeting other people or is just generally problematic.) Selected members from each organization have access to the information, and a representative from the organization linked to the event at which the incident occurred will follow up on each report.

In addition, if you experience harassment or other inappropriate behavior while at an NAQT national championship, we encourage you to seek out one of our Advocates or to come directly to a control room or the Information Desk to let us know, in real time, what’s going on so that we can take immediate steps to stop whatever’s making you uncomfortable. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this during the event, please use the online reporting form to let us know what happened.
