Small School National Championship Tournament

The Small School National Championship Tournament (SSNCT) is NAQT’s annual championship event for small high schools. The tournament is toward the end of each school year and features the top small school quiz bowl teams from across the United States (and beyond).

As of the 2016-17 competition year, NAQT has changed its definition of small schools to incorporate two divisions, one for traditional public schools and one for charter schools and private schools.

Teams qualify for the SSNCT by their performance at tournaments held throughout the year using questions supplied by NAQT. A list of upcoming events may be found on NAQT’s website.

80 teams attended the 2016 SSNCT at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare near Chicago on Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1.

The 2017 SSNCT will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare near Chicago on Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30.

Schools that are ineligible to attend the SSNCT may be interested in the High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT), which is open to essentially every school that overlaps grades 9 through 12.

If you have any questions about the SSNCT (or any other NAQT events), please contact us at ssnct@naqt.com.

A list of all past champions is available, as is the current subject distribution of the national championship set.
