Small School National Championship Tournament

The SSNCT is NAQT’s annual championship event for small high schools. The tournament is toward the end of each school year and features the top small school quiz bowl teams from across the United States (and beyond).

As of the 2017–2018 competition year, NAQT has changed its definition of small schools to incorporate two divisions, one for traditional public schools and one for all other schools.

Teams qualify for the SSNCT by their performance at regular-season tournaments using questions supplied by NAQT.

126 teams (96 from traditional public schools and 30 from charter and private schools) attended the 2017 SSNCT at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare near Chicago on Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30.

The 2018 SSNCT will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare on Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29.

Schools that are ineligible to attend the SSNCT may be interested in the High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT), which is open to essentially every school that overlaps grades 9 through 12.

If you have any questions about the SSNCT (or any other NAQT events), please contact us at ssnct@naqt.com.
