Online Quiz Bowl Tournaments

NAQT provides questions for online tournaments, including leagues and conferences. (This is distinct from both our online quiz game, Buzzword and electronic delivery of practice material via Locklizard.)

We have prepared an extensive guide to online quiz bowl tournaments and a system in which tournament directors specify staff and moderators access tournament questions at the appropriate time. Moderators need naqt.com accounts. Online tournaments using NAQT questions must use this platform unless the host has received special dispensation from NAQT. Tournament directors set up videoconferencing (e.g., Zoom) rooms and online buzzer systems to complete the tournament setup.

NAQT’s system for providing questions works with NAQT’s standard tossup-bonus format. If you’re planning to host an online tournament using other formats, please write to hosting@naqt.com and we’ll estimate if or when we might be able to support your plans.

In general, online tournaments can be qualifiers for NAQT’s national championships if they fulfill the usual requirements for qualifiers and require players to be visible on video at all times.

If you would like to host an NAQT tournament online, please fill out our form or write to hosting@naqt.com.
