Approved CC SCT Formats

NAQT provides questions for 12 rounds of play at CC SCT tournaments. The tournament format at each CC SCT must meet these criteria:

Listed below are pre-approved CC SCT formats for any number of teams from 4 to 18. For each format the number of rounds scheduled is exclusive of any tiebreaker and final games needed. Other formats may be equally acceptable, but hosts who wish to use a different format for their tournament than one shown here should write to cc@naqt.com about their plans in advance.

The following abbreviations are used:

14 SFRR (7/7), then ⅓RR (6 without repeats / 4 / 4) 9 10 Top three from each SFRR play top three from other. Fourth- and fifth-place teams from each SFRR play a RR. Sixth- and seventh-place teams from each SFRR play a RR.
15 SFRR (8/7), then ¼RR (4/4/4/3, all without repeats) 8–9 9 Top two from each SFRR play top two from others; likewise for third- and fourth-place teams; likewise for fifth- and sixth-place teams; likewise for seventh- and eighth-place (if applicable) teams.
16 SFRR (8/8), then ¼RR without repeats 9 9 Top two from each SFRR play top two from others; likewise for third- and fourth-place teams; likewise for fifth- and sixth-place teams; likewise for seventh- and eighth-place teams.
17 SFRR (6/6/5), then ⅓RR (6/6/5, all without repeats) 8–9 9 Top two from each SFRR play top two from others; likewise for middle two and bottom two/one
18 SFRR (6/6/6), then ⅓RR without repeats 9 9 Top two from each SFRR play top two from others; likewise for middle two and bottom two
